Creemore Cruise - July 4, 9 am....Come ride for FUN!

Don't miss out on the first Gears GT (Grand Tour) Ride of the summer on July 4th at 9 am.

Our GT Rides are a 'grab a map and go' format. Choose from distances of approx 70k, 100k and 130k. This ride is good for the touring beginner to the Ironman athlete looking for a training day. Expect beautiful country roads, some challenging climbs (on the longer routes), and almost no traffic lights! You can also meet up for a pint of Creemore at the finish...fresh from the brewery!

Cost is $20 ($15 if you pre-register at Gears Bike Shop or by calling the store). You will get a color map, tech support at the start, water and snacks at the start, and an opportunity to ride somewhere new with your friends.

Meet at the Gears Truck on Mill St. near the Creemore Brewery. Registration will start at 8:30 and finish by 9:30 with the goal of getting people riding by 9am. Click here for a map to Creemore.
We will be out there rain or shine.

Please Note: Helmets are mandatory, and to participate, annual Insurance through the Ontario Cycling Association ($25), must be purchased, along with a signed waiver. If you've already paid for your OCA insurance at Gears or another club, bring your card with you.

Congrats Conquer Cancer Riders!

Gears would like to send out a big 'high five' to all the riders at this year's Ride to Conquer Cancer. It was a perfect weekend for a ride and Gears was, once again, there to support everyone on their adventure to Niagara Falls.

This ride gather's pro level riders with beginners from all over the world. We are so proud to be a part of it and know that we make a difference in you all being able to get yourself to the finish line.

We look forward to next year already!

HSCB Tri Series - Stop #1 Lakeside

The HSBC Triathlon Series kicked off this past weekend at Lakeside (near London). Gears is back for the 2009 season as the Official Mechanical Support Team for the series.
Lakeside was a complete SELL OUT for all events this year. It's great to see so many people getting out and being active. With distances ranging from 'Give-It-A-Try' to a Sprint, there was something challenging for all levels.
Gears was out helping athletes with last minute repairs, advice, bike fit adjustments, and forgotten items...like helmets...Sorry folks, Derek wasn't lending out his new Transition...display purposes only!
If you are thinking about your first triathlon, check out the calendar of events for the HSBC Series (http://www.hsbctriathlon.com) These guys know how to make your first tri experience a great one. And plus we will be there to help you out! Coach DRock (a.k.a. Derek MacNeil) will be out at these events so you can see him for some pre race tips and advice. Here are a few photos of the race site from this past weekend.
